Buford Martin Anderson, 61, Chanute, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at his home.

Buford was born in Chanute on July 21, 1948, the son of Donald Bruce and Alice Marjorie Janssen Anderson. He attended Swede Center and Petrolia schools, graduating from Chanute High School in the Class of 1966. He also attended Chanute Junior College.

He was united in marriage to Gloria Rankin on May 22, 1976 in Chanute. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2002.

Buford worked as a maintenance person for Prestige Cabinetry for 23 years before his retirement.

He is survived by two brothers, Harold Anderson, Emporia, and Frank Anderson, Worland, Wyo.; a sister, Joyce Boehl, Falling Waters, W.V.; a mother-in-law, Betty Rankin, Chanute; two nieces and three nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Cherry Street Youth Center or the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.
