Veneta Mary Schoenhofer Lowe, 82, formerly of St. Paul, died Monday, March 8, 2010, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born Aug. 20, 1927, in St. Paul to John Michael and Catherine Marie Thomas Schoenhofer, graduating from St. Paul High School in 1944.
She was a hard worker and loved people. She taught school in Oswego in the 1940s and also worked at the Erie Creamery, The Chanute Tribune, Star Drill, Chanute Country Club and retired from H.K. Porter after 20 plus years.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carla and Gary Brewer, Wilson, Okla., Kay Lowe, Olathe, and Karen and Bob Sullivan, Cape Fair, Mo.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Anne Schoenhofer, St. Paul, Robert and Virginia Schoenhofer, St. Paul, Kenneth and Sandy Schoenhofer, Erie, and Verl and Judy Schoenhofer, Chanute; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Eileen Barnes, Kansas City, Mo., Ruthie Wehlage, Erie, Norma and Bill Carson, Oswego, Mary Jo and Gene Mahler, Erie, and Berniece and Earl King, Wichita; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Irene Smith, Rita Lockwood, Kathleen MeGowan, Madonna Amos and Rose Agnes Schoenhofer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul with Father Theodore Khin conducting the ceremony. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Woodard, Adam Brewer, Zachary Brewer, Caleb Brewer, Austin Woodard and Billy Carson. Honorary Bearers will be Callie Brewer and Shannon Brewer.
A Rosary service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute with Father Bernard Gorges conducting the ceremony.
