, 80, Parsons, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Labette Health.

He was born August 9, 1928 in Conway, Mo., to John W. and Edna May Malone Farran. As a child, he moved with his family first to Cherryvale then to Parsons. He attended Parsons schools. He joined the United States Army and served until 1951. Following his discharge he returned to Parsons. He worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for a time. He later worked for USD 503 in maintenance retiring in 1988.

He and Ilse were married in 1945. She survives, of the home.

Also surviving are two sons, Dieter Eberl, Golden, Colo., Michael Farran, Humboldt; two daughters, Renate Graham, Altus, Okla., Beate Williams, Galveston, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester L. Farran, Las Cruces, N.M., Wesley L. Farran, Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Emily Williams, San Antonio, Texas, Gerry Myers and Cora Rose Orrel, both of Bartlesville, Okla.

Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott. The Brown-Bishop post #704 Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in charge of military honors. Memorial contributions are suggested to Assistance in Health Care of Tulsa, Okla. and these may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
