Raymond John “Ray” Holland, 88, Joplin, Mo., died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the home of his daughter.

He was born March 22, 1921, in Pittsburg to Harry and Mary Welch Holland.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Jewell White on Dec. 1, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Webb City.

He owned and operated Ray’s Service Station in Webb City, Mo.

Survivors include two daughters, Rana Holland, Annandale, Va., and Liz Millard, Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Jim Holland, Oronogo, Mo., and Andy Holland, Joplin, Mo.; two brothers, Wilber Holland, Belton, Mo., and Dr. Woodrow Holland, Erie; four grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Mo. Recitation of the Rosary was Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, immediately followed by the Memorial Funeral Mass. A family committal and burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
