Sharon Lee Sibley, 72, El Dorado, died on Friday, March 19, 2010, at St Francis Hospice in Wichita. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 7:30 Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral in Walnut Valley Memorial Park, El Dorado.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1938 in Lyons, the daughter of James Melvin and Ellen Pricilla Butler Johnson. Sharon graduated from El Dorado High School with the Class of 1955. She lived in El Dorado for many years, and had lived in Rosalia previously. Sharon lived in Chanute for two years after the death of her husband and then returned to El Dorado due to ill health. She was a member of Church of Christ. For a time she had worked at Dillons Bakery, Sears and Wal-Mart. She loved to garden and especially working in her special flower garden. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren and taking care of Skipper her dog.
On June 5, 1955 she and James Richard Sibley were married in El Dorado. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2003.
Those she leaves are her children Debbie and husband, Mike James, Lone Grove, Okla.; David R. Sibley, Chanute; Brad Sibley, Bel Aire; Lisa and Chris Gipson, El Dorado; a brother Dennis Johnson and wife, Pam, Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters, Bonnie Koger and husband, Ivan, Ralston, Okla., Janice Hahn and husband, Allen, Rosenberg, Texas; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents Jim and Ellen Johnson.
