Jessie Mary Shultz Wood, 92, Humboldt, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

She was born April 20, 1917, in Woodson County to Delano Grover and Bertha Olive Snider Shultz.

She married Clarence Albert Wood on Feb. 6, 1935, in Yates Center. He died on Feb. 22, 1993.

She was a housewife, loved to make quilts and give them away, loved to sew and made her own clothes, but most of all loved being a grandma and taking care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kathryn Wood, Chanute; a daughter, Mary Liles, Humboldt; and six grandchildren, Janet and Kenny Shettler, Erie, Cindy and Jim Scaletta, Erie, Kevin Wood, Humboldt, Brian and Sandra Wood, Lansing, Mary and Kenny Lumley, Humboldt, and David Liles, Goddard; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, George and James Shultz; and a son-in-law, Ernest Liles.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt. Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
