Alma Fern Smith, 90, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Seiling (Okla.) Nursing Center.

She was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Earlton to Albertus Blaine and Sarilda Pearl Price Shepard. She graduated from Thayer High School in 1938.

She married Quentin Manford Smith on Oct. 2, 1943, in Guthrie, Okla. He died on June 6, 2007.

Most recently, she worked as a secretary for the California State Water Resources Board in Sacramento.

She and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church in Seiling.

Survivors include Ruby Hedges, Chanute, and a brother, Harold Shepard, Tempe, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Gossett; and two brothers, Virgil and Claude Shepard.

Funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Redinger Funeral Home Family Chapel, Seiling, Okla. Private burial was in the Brumfield Cemetery.
