Dwight C. Olson, 81, Buffalo, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born Sept. 9, 1928, in rural Buffalo to Carl F. and Adeline Rose Olson. He graduated from Vilas High School.

He married Evelyn Louise Provorse on March 11, 1949. She survives.

He was a farmer and cattleman. He was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and cheering for them during their ballgames. He loved working in his garden and building things with his hands. He loved traveling, good food, and most of all his wife.

Other survivors include his children, Barbara Borror, Broken Arrow, Okla., Michael Olson and his companion Pat Oakes, Buffalo, Brenda Allen, Newton, and Blane Olson and his wife Ronda, Buffalo; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin Olson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell and Wilbur Olson; and a sister, Ruth Yarnell.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the High Prairie Methodist Church, rural Altoona. Burial will follow in High Prairie Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Contributions may be made to the High Prairie Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
