Carmon D. Cooley, 69, Chanute, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Center in St. Paul.
Carmon was born on Nov. 25, 1940, the son of Durwood and Daisy Mae Hudson Cooley. He grew up in the Erie and Chanute area.
He was united in marriage to Norma Warchola from Kansas City in December of 1974. She had a daughter, Debbie, and together they had a daughter Carmen Daisy Cooley. They later divorced.
He married Linda Mount Dreyer in 1989. She survives, of the home.
Carmon was a construction worker until he was disabled 25 years ago.
He enjoyed cooking, square-dancing and the computer.
He spent the last 1 ¬Ω years of his life at the Prairie Mission Retirement Center.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; daughter, Carmen Wurtz, and her husband, Keith; stepdaughter Cindy Hastert; stepson Joe Dreyer; stepdaughter, Debbie Rolfe; 12 grandchildren; two half-brothers, Lee and David Harding; and a stepsister, Donna Locke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carl Cooley; and his stepfather Leslie Harding.
Cremation has taken place.
A family memorial service will be held at a later time.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Prairie Mission Activity Fund, 242 Carroll St., St. Paul, KS 66771, and may be left with the funeral home.
