John Muecke, 80, Kansas City, Mo., died at his home on Monday, April 12, 2010.
He was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Humboldt to John and Lucy Thielen Muecke. He then joined the Army Air Corps and was a Korean War Veteran.
He worked as a mechanic for TWA in the Kansas City area for 33 years before he retired in 1991.
Survivors include nine children, Nancy Hemenway, Kansas City, Mo., Stephanie Early, Miami, Texas, Debby Helton, Leawood, Brenda Herbert, North Pole, Alaska, Cecelia Muecke, Pleasant Valley, Mo., Charles Muecke, Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Harper, Kansas City, Mo., Kay Mimms, Tyler, Texas, and Charlene Matthews, Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Jo Ann Sproul, Englewood, Colo., and Mary Jane Harper, Des Moines, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Leeper; and two wives, Barbara Brackeen Muecke and Ruth Davison Muecke.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. today at St. Gabriel Church, 4737 N. Cleveland, Kansas City, MO 64117. A rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gabriel. A burial will be held in Hamilton, Mo., at 2 p.m. Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of Missouri Funeral Care.
