Marie Ester Bell, 91, Chanute, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.

Marie was born in Caney on April 16, 1919, the daughter of Oliver Raymond and Laura Beckwith Thornton.

She was united in marriage to Herbert Neely. He preceded her in death. She was later married to LaDon Bell. He also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Marie is survived by her son, Don Neely, Chanute; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lester Thornton, Abilene, and Russell Thornton, Seaside, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Herbert Neely and LaDon Bell, a son, Urwin Neely, a great-grandchild, three sisters, Bertha Wallace, Pauline Burns and Leta Thornton, and three brothers, Arthur Thornton, Richard Thornton and Clifford Thornton.

Cremation has taken place.

Graveside inurnment will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
