Virginia Arline Duke, 80, Chanute, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Chanute Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Chanute to Carl C. and Edith I. Herndon Young. She attended schools in Chanute.

She married Bobby Duke in June 1994 in Chanute. He survives.

She was a homemaker.

Other survivors include seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bob Young, Aurora, Mo., Jim Young, Olathe, Junior Young, Shawnee Mission, and John Young, Independence, Mo.; and five sisters, Grace Clark, Fredonia, Emma Dolen, Gas, Margaret Chapman, Denton, Texas, Linda Sullivan, Junction City, and Loretta McDonald, Chanute.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Spurling; a grandson, Carl Thomas Spurling; and a sister, Edith King.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Bible Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Earlton Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Contributions to Hospice of Kansas or Faith Bible Church may be left with the funeral home.
