Norma Hanson, 85, Yates Center, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Yates Center Nursing Home.

Norma was born Feb. 15, 1925, in northeast Woodson County in the Maple Grove District, the daughter of William R. and Dorothy McConnell Sterling. She grew up in Woodson County and graduated from Yates Center High School with the Class of 1943.

On May 17, 1947 she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Hanson at the First Christian Church Parsonage. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2002.

She worked at the State Exchange/Girard National Bank of Yates Center, Kansas, retiring in 1990.

Norma was a member of the Yates Center United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Janie Massoth and Rhonda McNett, both of Yates Center, five grandchildren; six-great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a sister, Delores Dee Mahon, Yates Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Yates Center. The family will gather to greet friends today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.. at the Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Norma Hanson Memorial Fund and left in care of Campbell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783.
