William Kline “Bill” Stevens, 73, a longtime resident of the Benedict area, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. He was born Oct. 8, 1936 in Buffalo, the son of Charles and Rebecca Ruth Wells Stevens. Bill was a graduate of Vilas High School, Chanute Junior College and Pittsburg State University. He has been a lifelong self-employed farmer.

On Sept. 9, 1962, in Kansas City, Kan., he married Mary Lewallen. She survives, of the home.

Bill was a member of the High Prairie United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are two daughters, Tracey Paramore, Perry, Becca Stevens, Denver, Colo.; a sister, Thelma Elaine Stewart, Edmond, Okla.; two grandchildren, Rylee and Brett Paramore, Perry.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, at the High Prairie United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the High Prairie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in Bill’s name with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and may be sent to the funeral home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
