Rex E. Sanders, 56, of rural Erie, died Monday, May 10, 2009, at his farm. His death was unexpected.

He was born on Oct. 17, 1953 to Jacob M. and Ada E. Beard Sanders. He grew up on the family farm and attended Erie schools, graduating from Erie High School in 1971.

He attended Neosho County Community College. He later returned to the family farm where he farmed for many years. He farmed leased land.

He and Susie Loveless were united in marriage on August 9, 1986 at the Tillman Chapel on the Pittsburg State University Campus. She survives, of the home.

He was a loving friend, son, father, and husband. Rex enjoyed gardening, fishing, and going to his children’s music performances. He spent his life working to improve the land on his farms, the conservation of birds and other wildlife. He was a true steward of the land. He was devoted son in taking care of his parents.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Jacob Sanders, of the home; one daughter, Flora Sanders, Lawrence; one sister, Sue Jones, Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation will take place. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials are suggested to the Erie Community Foundation and these may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
