Monica Renee Lynn Drake, 5, Chanute, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at her home in Chanute.

Monica was born in Chanute on Jan. 18, 2005, the daughter of Matthew V. Drake and Melodi Renee McCormick.

Monica was home-schooled due to her medical condition.

Her favorite toy was a set of chain links

She is survived by her parents; a brother, Marcus Virgil Paul Drake; a sister. Mia Annafay Drake; maternal grandparents, Ronald Eugene and Marsha Renee Ritz; and paternal grandparents, Michael Lynn and Marilynn Ann Drake.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.

Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Monica Drake account at the Bank of Commerce and may be left with funeral home.

I want to thank everyone that has made their way to help our family out at this time of need. Monica being gone now, is going to take a toll on our family, and it's just not going to be the same. To Matthew and Melodi, thanks for doing your best as parents to help my niece out the best way you two could. I thank you both for bringing this child to our family, and letting us love,cherish, and enjoy every second we could with her. She will be dearly missed, and my heart goes out to you both, and your loved ones. May God Bless Us All, and now we are on a new journey, without the one that we love the most. May Peace be with Monica and all her family. Love you all!
