Olive was born in Stark on February 21, 1921, the daughter of George and Pearle Kelso Defenbaugh. She graduated from the Fort Scott School of Nursing.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Olive was united in marriage to Wayne H. Ruble on August 8, 1943 in Kimball. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1994.
She loved her family, especially the children. She was a devoted nurse who put her patients first. Her profession, community and church were of great importance to her.
She enjoyed nature, reading, going to auctions, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. A special Thank You to Carol Ann and Kathy.
Olive is survived by three daughters, Diane Kilts and husband, Art, Wichita, Coleen Dyson, Wichita, and Marilynn Breiner and husband, Orville II, Chanute; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Kilts and wife, Cecelia, Marc Kilts and wife, Karen, Melissa Cruz and husband, Conrad, Angie Davis husband, Greg, Heather Manganiello and husband, Ralph, Amanda Evans and husband, Bryan, Dustin Dyson, and David Breiner and wife, Megan; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and three siblings, Ferol Dillon, Chanute, Avis Acton, La Port, Iowa, and Bob Defenbaugh, Stark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; three sisters, Hazel Defenbaugh, Georgia Lee Bowyer and Velma Huffman; and two brothers, Herbert Defenbaugh and Fred Defenbaugh.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today, May 18, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery, Erie.
The family received friends on Monday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center and may be left with the funeral home.
