Roberta Mae “Bertie” Carter, 76, died Wednesday, May 27, 2008, at Chanute Healthcare Center.
She was born June 23, 1931, in Elk City to George and Lorene Mumford Phillips.
She married Phillip Dean Carter on Jan. 22, 1950, in Neodesha. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenny D. and Christine Carter, Altoona, Phillip D. and Caroline Carter, Chanute, and Jimmy D. Carter, Altoona; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six brothers, Bob Phillips, Owensville, Mo., Richard Phillips, Pocahontas, Ark., Donnie and Larry Phillips, Chanute, Paul D. Phillips, Dearborn Heights, Mich., and John Phillips, Wichita.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Walter Phillips; and a grandson, Scott M. Carter.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, Chanute. Burial will follow at Altoona Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made in care of the funeral home.
