Mary Ann Hunter, 72, Moore, Okla., formerly of Chanute, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Moore Medical Center.
She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Oct. 9, 1936, the daughter of Leah Schick and Arnold Waits.
She was married to Freddie Warren Hunter Jan. 12, 1983. He survives. She was previously married to Ralph Orth, deceased, with whom she had two daughters, Feona King and Marsha Diaz, who survive. Other survivors are three granddaughters, Jessica King, Nicole Taylor and Megan Diaz; a sister, Barbara Soukup; brothers, Joe Maloun, Jr., Jim Maloun, and John Maloun; two stepdaughters, Kathy Hunter and Fredi Hunter-Still. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Billy Waits and a stepdaughter, Wendi Price.
She was a licensed practical nurse for a number of years. She also loved horses, sewing, decorating and crafts.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held in Moore, Okla. on Dec. 9. A second memorial service will be held for her Kansas family and friends Saturday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, 120 South Denman, Chanute.
