Dr. Robert Lee Cavins Jr., 64, Forsyth, Mo., died Monday June 21, 2010 at his home.

Robert was born in El Reno, Okla., on Sept. 1, 1945, the son of Robert Lee and Ellen Jeane Laughlin Cavins.

He received his Doctorate in Chiropractic in 1973 from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

He opened the Cavins Chiropractic Clinic in Branson, Mo., where he practiced for 26 years before retiring in 1999.

He is survived by two sons, Mitchell Calvert, Branson, Mo., and William Grant Cavins, Hollister, Mo.; a daughter, Kimberlee Williams, Taneyville, Mo.; four grandchildren; his mother, Ellen J. Cavins, Chanute; one brother, William Cavins, Humboldt; and two sisters, Paula Bevans, Chanute, Pam Ross of Forysth, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute.

Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Robert Cavins Memorial Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
