George Earl Croan, 72, of Garnett, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility, Garnett.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1937 in Centerville, the son of George Franklin and Mae Amanda Cass Croan. George graduated from the Kincaid High School and served in the United States Air Force before returning to the area.

George married Irene Lyons on Dec. 23, 1961 in Osawatomie.

His last employment was for Garnett Church Furniture Factory until an accident forced his early retirement.

George is survived by his wife, Irene Croan, of the home; a daughter, Lorita Jean Smith, Omaha, Neb., a son, Dennis Wayne Croan, Garnett; a daughter, Wynona Lynn Baum, Chanute; two sisters, Beverly King, Humboldt, Nellane Stussie, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the George Croan Memorial Fund.
