Beatrice M. Freeman Shaffer, 82, Yates Center, died Monday, June 28, 2010, in Yates Center.

Beatrice was born Jan. 23, 1928 the daughter of Eli and Estella Freeman in Leroy.

On Dec. 11, 1945 she was united in marriage to Leonard “Pete” Schaffer. He preceded her in death in September 1992.

She is survived by her children, Ron Shaffer, Desoto, Bea Cline, Butte, Mont., Troy A. Shaffer, Jerry Shaffer, Marla Newman, all of Yates Center, Kansas, Marsha Barney, Toronto, and Kelly L. Shaffer, Yates Center; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Freeman and Richard Freeman, Burlington.

A celebration of Bea’s life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 2 at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.The family will greet friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home.
