Donald Eugene “Don” Briley, 68, Chanute, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Don was born in Thayer on April 2, 1942, the son of George and Marjorie Barker Briley. He graduated from Chanute High School.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Boardman on Feb. 26, 1965 in Chanute. She survives, of the home.

Don was a loader operator for Ash Grove Cement Company for more than 39 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Along with his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his children, Tom DeCoster, Dale DeCoster, Robert DeCoster, Kathleen Matlock, Yvonne Cummings, Sherry Cooper and Pam Briley; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Briley, Gardner; a niece and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons, Kenny Briley and Scotty Briley.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be made to Patricia Briley to assist with funeral expenses and may be left with the funeral home.
