Leola Wilda Dame, 90, Atchison, died Friday, July 23, 2010 in Atchison.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 in the Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation, Atchison United Methodist Church, American Heart Association or Donor’s Choice. Leola was born July 14, 1920 in Guilford, the daughter of the late Henry and Clarinda Burns Dennis. She worked as a housekeeper for the Norton Hospital until her retirement. Leola enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, flowers and bird watching. She was a caregiver her entire life taking care of her siblings, parents and other family members. Family was the most important thing to Leola.
She married George Elwin Dame on May 6, 1940 in Madison, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1981. Survivors include a son, Elwin Leroy Dame and wife, Patricia, Ames, Okla.; daughters, Neola and husband, Dwight Shrader, Bendena, and Leanna and husband, John Strong, Leavenworth; sister, Lavena Bosacki, Fredonia;, 10 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Leola was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Dame; her brothers, Ray, Roy, Reilly and Roley Dennis; sisters, Edna Clifton, Elmae Lopeman, Dolly Clifton and Ina Elliott and a grandchild.
