Roberta A. Yarnell, 84, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Guest Home Estates, Erie. Although she had been in declining health, her death was unexpected.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923, near Thayer to Aleck McClan and Anna E. Badger Basler. Her family lived in the rural Thayer and Erie areas while she was a child.
She married Leon P. Yarnell on Aug. 29, 1941, in Erie. He died Aug. 30, 2000.
The Yarnells farmed in Neosho County and in their later years moved into Erie.
She was a member of the Church of God in Chanute.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leland and Sharon Yarnell, Erie; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Irene and Oren Wadeking, Hartford, Ill., Patricia and Bob Bammann, Erie, and Barbara Frazier, Haysville; nine grandchildren, Kenneth, David and Mike Yarnell and Lisa Sulenes, all of Erie, Sharon Kaye Thomas and Larry Wadeking, both of Hartford, Ill., Jeremiah Eck, Haysville, Joshua Eck, Boise, Idaho, and Loucinda Carroll, Branson, Mo.; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Loren Basler, Bartlesville, Okla.; and a sister, Neva Havely, Farmington, N.M.
She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Porter Allen and Bill Bammann and John Daniel Eck; six brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church, Erie, with the Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Erie, under the direction of Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
