Monnie Mae Simpson, 78, Yates Center, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Coffey County Hospital, Burlington.

She was born June 18, 1929, in Rose to Frank and Alma Evans Vice. She graduated from Chanute High School.

She was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Palestine, Texas.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She married John H. Simpson on June 30, 1949, at Yates Center. He died April 6, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Glen Paul Simpson, Lewisville, Texas; a daughter, Patricia Ann Gillespie, Huntington, Texas; and a sister, Juanita Plumb, Stone Mountain, Ga.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28 at Yates Center Cemetery Shelter House. Inurnment will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center.
