Rex R. Clements, 81, Humboldt, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Rex was born in Ava, Mo., on Dec. 19, 1928, the son of Raymond Dewey and Ida Frye Clements. He graduated from Humboldt High School.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Rex was united in marriage to Joan Nickell on July 23, 1951 in Bentonville, Ark. She preceded him in death.

He worked for the Monarch Cement Company for 40 years.

Rex is survived by his children, Jeff Clements and his wife, Linda, Scott Clements and his wife, Linda, and Lori Woods and her husband, Dan; five grandchildren, Dana, Christopher and his wife, Evette, Torrey, Ashli, and Adrianne and her husband, Derek; four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Rylee, Anya-Sophia, and Adelaide; two brothers, Bobbie Dean Clements and Howard Clements; and a sister, Betty Sue Whitaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joan; three great-grandchildren; three sisters and six brothers.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at the First Baptist Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
