June E. Day, 80, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville, Calif.

She was born June 11, 1928, in Thayer to George W. and Alta Fleming Zugmier.

She and John B. Day were married Aug. 9, 1952. He died April 13,1998.

She was a graduate of Thayer High School, Neosho County Community College, Chanute, and San Jose (Calif.) State College. She lived most of her adult life in California.

June was born in June, tried to live life like it was June all of the time and departed this life on a beautiful June day.

Survivors include a son, Alan Day, Eldorado Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Sarah Luna, Campbell, Calif.; four granddaughters, Sabrina, Vanessa, Lauren and Kelsey, all of California; a brother, George A. Zugmier, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two sisters, Helen Bonar, Wichita, and Mildred Steeves, Emporia.

A private celebration of her life will be held Saturday in El Dorado Hills, Calif.
