Rose Lee Hartman Covey, 53, Moran, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Kansas City (Mo.) Hospice House, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 11, 1954, in Iola to Kenneth and Nellie Hickman Hartman. She grew up in the Moran/Colony area graduating from Crest High School in Colony, Kansas in 1972.

She was employed as a dietary manager for the Moran Manor.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Chanute. 

Survivors include her husband, Gene Covey, of the home; her father, Kenneth Hartman, Moran; two daughters, Wendy Thompson, Kellyville, Okla., and Sharon Lucas, Gladstone, Mo.; three sons, Billy Joe Edwards, Kellyville, Okla., George Covey, Moran, and Mike Edwards, Bronson; two sisters, Nina Thompson, Pomona, and Sally Powelson, Moran; three brothers, Gene Hartman, LaHarpe, Dale Hartman, Moran, and Charles Bohnert, Fenton, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by twin daughters, Sonya Dee and Tonya Marie, in 1973; her mother Nellie Hickman Hartman, in 1966; and stepmother, Betty Higginbottom Hartman, in 2006.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, Chanute. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery under the direction of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran.

Contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House or the New Hope Baptist Church may be made in care of the funeral home, 344 North Cedar, Moran, KS 66755.
