Joseph Paul Ward, 55, Chanute, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at his home.
Joe was born on Aug. 8, 1955 in Chanute, the son of Paul and Gladys Fiene Ward. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1973 and attended NCCC.
He was united in marriage to Janis Shannon on Oct. 8, 1983.
Joe worked as a technician for Time Warner Cable for 26 years. He worked at NCCC for the past five years.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Joe enjoyed playing baseball and softball his entire life. In addition to his love of sports he was proud of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Joe was also a great handyman to his friends and family. Above all, he was very proud of his daughters and enjoyed participating in every activity they participated in. He was anticipating the birth of his first grandchild, a girl, in October.
Joe is survived by his wife, Janis, of the home; daughters, Shannon Jones and her husband, Marcus, Lund, Nev., Morgan John and her husband, Justin, Colby, Kerstin Ward and Carlyn Ward, both of Chanute; two sisters, Judy Boyer and Linda Ward Orth, both of Chanute; and a brother, John Ward and his wife, Linda, Chanute.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., on Thurs., Aug. 26, 2010 at the church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial fund is being set up in his name at the Bank of Commerce. Donations may be left at the funeral home, church, or bank.
