Dorsey V. Osborn, 96, Chanute, died Tuesday, Sept, 7, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Dorsey was born on April 15, 1914 in Odessa, Mo., the son of Dorothy and Dorsey V. Osborn. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in the Class of 1931.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1940 until his discharge in 1945.

Dorsey was united in marriage to Alma C. Gindlesberger on Oct. 3, 1942 in Muskogee, Okla. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2007.

He worked as a pressman for the Chanute Tribune for 32 years.

Dorsey is survived by three daughters, Dorcas “Ann” Dobson and her husband, Larry, Lenexa, Janice “Sue” Moore and her husband, Fred, Chanute, and Linda Lee Osborn, Wichita; and a sister, Lela Shean, Camarillo, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alma, a half-brother, Leo McNair Jr.; and a half-sister, Dorothy Bly.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.

Mr. Osborn will lie in state on today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be made to Church of God and may be left with the funeral home.
