Richard A. Ahring, 89, Chanute, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at Chanute Health Care Center.
Richard was born in Chanute on Sept. 19, 1921, the son of Abe and Annes Cover Ahring. He graduated from high school in Chanute in 1939. He moved to San Diego, Calif., and later joined the Army Air Corps. After the war he returned to Chanute and worked for Clark Lumber Company in Humboldt. In 1952 he went to work for Chanute Lumber Company for 33 years before retiring in 1983. He also drove a food van for the senior citizens for eight years.
He was united in marriage to Enid Rinehart in Nov. 22, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1994.
He was also preceded by his mother and father, one brother and one sister.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews; and three very special girls, Terri, Nicci and Kym Myres.
A memorial graveside service will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Memorials in his name may be made to Chanute Health Care Center or Mirza Shriners and be left with the funeral home.
