Bernice Alida Splane, 92, Chanute, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Chanute Health Care Center.

Bernice was born in Chanute on April 7, 1918, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel Cochran Raish.

She worked many years at Model Laundry and Jensen Egg Plant and did laundry and ironing for people.

She was united in marriage in 1943 to Jess Splane. He preceded her in death.

Bernice is survived by one granddaughter, Sandra Cromwell, Independence; two nephews, Ron and Sam Splane, Chanute; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two good friends, Trine Ysusi, Humboldt, Mildred Crisman, Chanute.

She was preceded by her husband, her father and mother, stepchildren Bill Splane, Jess (Shock) Splane, Mildred Hamilton, Leo Splane, John (Kayo) Splane and Jack Splane.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Horizon Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
