INDEPENDENCE — Playing in the Independence Invitational on Monday, the Chanute Blue Comets finished in third place in boys tennis action.
Parsons, one of the favorites to win a team state title in Class 4A, won the meet with a perfect 12-0 record.
The hosts claimed runner- up with eight wins while Chanute was third with three wins. Fort Scott got one victory to finish fourth.
Arthur Schmitt went 0-3 at No. 1 singles for the Blue Comets.
Kemper Manly went 1-2 at No. 2 singles, with the lone win coming against Fort Scott’s Dylan Yates.
At No. 1 doubles, Ethan Burnett and Ayden Cummings went 1-2, beating Fort Scott’s Kaiden Clary and Landon McDaniel.
As for No. 2 doubles, Luke Becknell and Logan Bilby went 1-2, taking down Fort Scott’s Malachi Larsen and Raj Gugnani.
