On Sunday, April 13, at the High Prairie Church, President Tatum Francis called to order the April meeting of the High Prairie Pioneers 4-H Club. Flag Leader Dawson Stich then led the club in the flag salute and the 4-H pledge.
Secretary Delanie Stich read the minutes from the March meeting and then conducted the roll call which was “What is your favorite candy bar,” which was answered by 22 members and 3 leaders.
Song leader Sienna Drumm-Williams led the club in singing “Happy Birthday to Tracen Francis.
Treasurer Gabe Engelman gave the treasurer’s report. Reporter Hunter Reaves gave the reporter’s report. Parliamentarian Oliver Bilby and Leader Andrew Engelman explained what committee reports are, why they are given and why they are not approved. The 4-H Council Representative Garrett Engelman gave a short summary of the last council meeting with the proposed fair schedule being a major topic.
Leader Andrew Engelman reminded the members that small animal tag day is May 2-3 and to watch for emails on other activities. Leader Kimberly Francis reminded the club that now is the time for livestock clinics and spring shows which are great practice and experience for the fair and now is the time to start working on indoor projects before summer comes. There was no old business. In new business Leader Danielle Stich talked to the club about having a booth and/or banner at the fair and to sign up for those committees if the club decided to do them this year. The club voted to have a booth and banner at the fair. Leader Kimberly Francis informed the members that the High Prairie Church had asked if the club could paint the basketball goal and propane tank, and the church would provide the materials and pay the club. The club said they would, and members were asked to sign up for this task as it would not require the whole club to do the project. Vice-President Garrett Engelman announced the program. Delanie Stich talked about and read a poem as a tribute to Spirit, one of her family’s horses who had recently passed away. Henry Crawshaw gave a project talk about his two sheep, Fluffy and Poppy, and presented basic information about sheep.
Recreation leader Tinselle Francis led the club in playing Shoe Scramble Relay.
Leader Kimberly Francis gave out the Top Blue ribbons the members had earned for their Model Meeting at Regional Club Days and then awarded the Spirit Stick to Tinselle Francis for her recreation game and helping to keep the meeting moving by making motions. Then she had the members who had brought a pencil and paper to take notes to pick a number between 50-100 and Chloe Kuhn won the prize.
The meeting was adjourned by the members spinning around and hopping while saying the 4-H motto. After the meeting the club had refreshments provided by the Francis and Bilby families.
