It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muliya Christine McMillan, age 38, on the morning of April 27, 2025, in her family home. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
Muliya was born on April 30, 1986, in Fort Scott. She grew up in Uniontown, where she attended elementary and high school. She later attended Pittsburg State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. After college, she moved to Erie, and eventually settled in Chanute, where she lived with her husband and children for the remainder of her life.
Muliya will be remembered for her dedication and compassion throughout her career as a social worker. Beyond her professional life, she was a devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, and aunt. She loved nothing more than her family and God and was also a cherished member Muliya Christine McMillan
of her church, Living Word Assembly in Chanute.
She is survived by her loving husband of nine years, Devin McMillan, and their two children, Crosby (7) and Elaina (18 months). She is also survived by her siblings: Rachelle Thomas and her husband Chris, Caleb Jennings, and Abram Jennings and his wife Rachel; her parents: Cheryl Blythe and husband Brad, Lyndon Jennings and his wife Tami; her maternal grandmother, Gloria Newton; her nieces, Camryn and Corbyn Thomas, Penelope Jennings and her nephews, Crewson Thomas and Blaise Jennings. Additional family include her in-laws Annette and David McMillan, Beau and Jill McMillan, Grant McMillan and Annebelle Schultz.
Muliya is joined in Heaven by her beloved firstborn son, Braylon Scott McMillan.
She will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering integrity, devout faith, compassion, and her deep love of family. Her laughter and wisdom were gifts to all who knew her. Muliya’s smile could light up any room, and her beautiful soul touched so many lives. We ask that you remember her not for how her life ended, but for how she lived—with a purpose and love that made a profound impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Park Pavilion, 101 S. Forest Avenue, Chanute, KS.
