Agnes Scharenbroch wrote into the Reader’s Digest, “Feeling down about my thinning hair I told my friend, “Soon I’ll never need to go back to the beauty salon. Whenever I vacuum, all I pickup is my hair.”
A glass is half full kind of person she responded, “soon then you won’t need to vacuum either.”
Hair is not the only thing that changes as we age. Wrinkles. Lines in the face, laugh lines or frown lines, depending on what you practice the most. Your balance is not what it once was.
Here are some things that come with aging and some Bible promises.
The fear of death is common.” Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4 Fear of illness: he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds Psalms 137:3 The death of friends and loved ones can lead to fear of loneliness.
“The Lord himself will be with you, he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8 The fear of being a burden.: “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you, he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalms 55:22 The fear of being forgotten or not valued. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny yet not one of them fall to the ground outside your fathers care and even the hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows” Matthew 10:29–31 But there are rich advantages in aging.
Wisdom and experience. “Gray hair is a crowd of splendor; it is a change in the way of righteousness.” Proverbs 16:31 Spiritual growth and maturity. “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; I have it in the house of the Lord they will flourish the courts of the Lord our God. They will still bear fruit in old age. They will stay fresh and green. Psalms 92:12–14 Time for reflection and gratitude. “So teach us to number our days that we make it a heart of wisdom.” Psalms 90:12 An opportunity to pass on legacy and blessed future generations. “One generation shall command your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.” Psalms 145:4 Remember Gray follicles are a sign of your wisdom!
