After suffering four straight losses, the Chanute Blue Comets have bounced back with three straight victories, including two in SEK League softball play.
Chanute defeated Independence at home last Friday, 12-0. The Blue Comets then defeated Louisburg on the road, 7-2, on Saturday then won a rematch at Independence on Tuesday, 15-4.
In last Friday’s home win against Independence, Avery Dean earned the win in the circle, tossing five shutout innings with six strikeouts.
Dean and Brynna Peter both had three-hit games and combined for five RBIs.
In Saturday’s win at Louisburg, Dean again got the victory, striking out seven while allowing six hits and two runs, both unearned.
Lani Stanfield belted two hits and recorded two RBIs for the Blue Comets.
Returning to action on Tuesday, Dean recorded her third win, tossing all six innings while striking out five and allowing 10 hits.
Dean also posted a fourhit, three-run game at the plate. Ava Teichgraeber registered four hits and five RBIs, including two doubles.
The three straight wins swelled Chanute’s record to 10-8 overall.
