INDEPENDENCE — Hosting the SEK League Championship, the Independence Bulldogs utilized its home-course advantage to claim the boys golf league title on Monday afternoon.
Independence posted a team score of 323 strokes. Pittsburg was runner-up with 332 strokes, followed by Fort Scott (350), Chanute (355), Labette County (387), Coffeyville (401) and Parsons (413).
Ethan Small of Independence shot a 74 over 18 holes to win the SEK League title individually. PIttsburg’s MJ Lowe shot a 76 to place second. Reece Roberts of Fort Scott was third (78) with Cam Mavers of Independence (80), Tanner White of Independence (81), Joe Keal of Parsons (82), Jace Akins of Pittsburg (82), Dylan Ward of Pittsburg (82), Anden Chance of Chanute (85) and Sutton Horn of Fort Scott (87) rounded out the top 10.
Chance’s ninth place finish was the top performance from the Chanute Blue Comets.
Other golfers from Chanute included Hunter Stokes placing 11th (88), Hayes McKinney 15th (88), Noah Luebbering 17th (92) and Logan Axelson 30th (105).
