ST. PAUL – The Southeast Sunflowers 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on Sunday, May 4, in St. Paul. The club started its day by planting flowers at the St. Paul Schools. After planting flowers, the meeting was called to order by Vice President Devin Vogel, standing in for President Cashlee Smith, with the flag salute. Secretary, Emma Kintzer, took roll call, with the challenge to name a summer safety rule. The secretary then read the previous meeting minutes, which were approved. The treasurer’s report was given.
Leader Heather Vogel then gave the leader’s report, which included going over the dates of the Neosho County Fair, which will begin Monday, July 21, with food judging, Tuesday, July 22, with clothing, and then all other fair activities beginning Thursday, July 24. She also said the club is in charge of the dairy and goat barn clean-up before the fair begins.
Reporters’ report was given that last month’s reports were sent to the Chanute Tribune. Heather finalized by saying she would send out an email regarding the plans for the cake walk over Mission Days in St. Paul that takes place over Memorial Day Weekend.
Song leaders then lead the club in singing “Happy Birthday” to the May birthdays. Devin Vogel gave the Vice President report, and said the next meeting will be held on June 8, at 5 p.m. at the St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul. The meeting was adjourned with the 4-H pledge.
