May’s Leamona Family Community and Education group meeting opened with Edie Godinez presenting a program using an air fryer, explaining the different sizes available. She prepared roasted carrots with a honey butter glaze. She started the small baby carrots, added salt and pepper and then added the glaze. She discussed the advantages of the two air fryers she owned; The Ninja is smaller and more portable while the Emeril La Gossi is larger and can be used to make a full meal at one time.
President Janis Reinhardt opened the meeting and Sharon Carpenter reviewed the newspaper article published after the April meeting. Roll call was taken with the prompt to tell memory from a last day of school.
Members discussed the Recognition Day held in Parsons on May 1.
The speaker at Recognition Day was Roger Pruitt, a historian who is working on the Oak Grove School to get repaired and it would not only be a museum but the goal was to have school children come and hold a classroom as it was many years ago. To learn more, visit oakgroveschoolhouse.org.
Janis and Nancy Kernick were recognized as past or present presidents from Neosho County. Mary Dunn from Leamona and the Southeast Area Director conducted the meeting and Sharon Carpenter from Leamona was acting secretary. Leamona FCE received the State Gold Seal award for 100% reporting and also an EPC Action award for Exotic Vegetables.
