
DENTON, Tex. – Dr. Jack L. Lowe, 90, passed away on May 25, 2025 in Denton, Texas.
Dr. Lowe was born on Aug. 28, 1934 in South Mound, Kansas to Opal and Virgil Lowe.
Before moving to Chanute, his family lived in Erie, as well as Macon and Marshall, Missouri.
He graduated from Chanute High School in 1952 and Chanute Junior College in 1954. At that time, he received a scholarship from the Kansas Optometric Association to attend Los Angeles College of Optometry, currently Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, California. While in Los Angeles, he completed the four-year optometry course in three years and graduated Cum Laude.
Dr. Lowe began practicing optometry in Hugoton, Kansas, in 1958. He was joined in marriage to Carolyn Garrett on Oct. 20, 1967 and they had two children.
In 1973 they moved to Chanute, where he practiced until 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, son Jan (Jenny) of Plano, Texas, his daughter Jennifer (David) of Krum, Texas, his brother Chuck (Jeannette) of Kyle, Texas, two grandsons Seth (Alicia) Lowe and Garrett Lowe, and two granddaughters, Jane (Dexter) Longley and Jill (Harrison) Carothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no formal funeral service. However, friends and loved ones are invited to share their memories of Jack in their own way, in honor of the life he lived and the kindness he shared.
