Erie’s LaRue shines at state track

WICHITA — Earning a runner-up finish in the Class 2A high jump, Makenzie LaRue was one of the bright stars for the Erie Red Devils at the KSHSAA State Track and Field Championships over the weekend.

Clearing 5-2, LaRue claimed second in the high jump. Hoxie’s Emily Bainter won the event, clearing 5-2 but winning the event on attempts.

LaRue also medaled in the 100m hurdles, placing sixth (16.20). She finished 12th in the triple jump (3210.5).

On the boys’ side for Erie, Quincy Brown medaled in the high jump, finishing eighth and clearing 6-0.

Brown also finished 10th in the 300m hurdles prelims with a time of 42.15 seconds.

Jaden Daniels placed 15th in the 110m hurdles prelims (17.26) and 15th in the 300m hurdles prelims (44.76).

Grant Reissig was 11th in the high jump (5-10) while Micahel Richenburg was 14th in the triple jump (408.75).
