E. Edward Cross

E. Edward Cross 85, of Olathe, KS passed away June 14, 2025 at Colonial Village in Overland Park, KS.

Ed was born Nov. 24, 1939 to Lewis & Maudie (Heath) Cross in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. He grew up in Tonkawa, and Arkansas City, Kansas. He joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Active Duty and then remained in the Army Reserves for 30 years.

He and Cora Bailey were married June 25, 1967 and she survives of the home.

He pursued a career with the U.S. Government working for the Department of Agriculture and also being a regional safety manager for the Department of Commerce. After retirement from the government, he became the Civilian Safety Manager at Fort Leavenworth, and later owned and operated Trans-Med Pharmacy, until he retired from that company.

He was a loving and special husband, dad, uncle, friend and truly one of a kind. He enjoyed classic antique cars, square dancing, playing cards and board games with Friends and Family, going on Family vacations, taking cruises and remodeling and flipping homes. He traveled to Bangkok, Thailand twice to visit family and during his time with the Military traveled to England and Germany.

Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years and a daughter, Kim Mason, and her spouse Gail Mason of Missouri. He is also survived by four sisters: Louisa Spiser (Teeny Belle) of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Darlene Ruch of Fernley, Nevada; Nila Branch of Winfield; Ila Vorasaph of Bangkok, Thailand; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Richard Cross and Douglas Cross, and a sister, Geneva Teachman.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday June 19, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg with Reverend Jan Hayen officiating.

Military Honors for his 30 years of service will be given by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard, supported by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
