SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM FEEDS KIDS FOR FREE
USD 258 provides free meals to children age 1 to 18 during the summer. Adults cannot eat from children’s plates.
This summer meals will be served at Humboldt Elementary starting June 2nd-Aug 7th at 11 am-12:30pm. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child 18 yrs of age and under can eat. A breakfast will be packed to send home for the next day, so no breakfast on June 2nd. Thursday, meals will be sent home for Fri, Sat. & Sun. Ala Carte Meals will be available starting June 2nd, these will be available to the public Monday-Thursday, for a small fee. Chef Salads-$2, Ice Cream cones-$1, Daily Specials, posted each day. GALS FCE
Thirteen members were present for the June 16 meeting of GALS FCE when Judy Arbeiter gave the lesson on ‘Understanding Hospice’. With the Allen County Fair on the horizon, members signed up as judges helpers and guard duty in the Open Class. Plans were also made for assembling a club booth.
President Carol Bauer noted GALS have accumulated a number of Gold Seals through the years including the 45th Seal presented at the SE Area Recognition event. The club also received a third place award for the Character Counts-Citizenship Educational Program. Five members were recognized for continuous membership: Terry Broyles, 50 yrs., Carol Bauer, 35 yrs, Arbeiter, 20 yrs, Michelle Umholtz, 15 yrs and DeAnn Hauser, five yrs.
The Story Hour committee reported having visited seven daycare locations in March and April and plan to return in June and July. The next regular scheduled GALS meeting will be on July 21 when they will host the Humboldt Lions Club for the Summer Family Fun Time.
