INDEPENDENCE Mo. – Joy Eileen Lowe, 75, passed away surrounded by her family on June 30, 2025.
A visitation was held on Thursday, July 3, followed by a Celebration of Life service, both at Christ United Methodist Church.
Joy was born on February 18, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Roy and Trudy (O’Haro) Green. She graduated from Wyandotte High School with the Class of 1968. In 1969, she married Don Canfield, and together they welcomed two daughters. In 1990, she married Clyde Lowe, and they spent 34 wonderful years on the family farm outside of Chanute, Kansas.
Joy worked as both a legal secretary and a bank teller during her career. Outside of work, she cherished time spent with family, baking delicious pies, reading, and traveling (there wasn’t a vacation she didn’t enjoy.) She especially loved square dancing, she and Clyde traveled throughout the Midwest, forming many treasured friendships along the way.
Joy is survived by her daughters, Dawn Winingar (husband Roger) of Independence, Missouri, and Shawn Boon (husband John) of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren Christian, Andrew, Brett, John, and Emily Winingar; John and Jordan Boon; her brother Tom Green (wife Meda) and family of Olathe, Kansas; her sister Cheryl Legrand of Shawnee, Kansas; her sister Debbie Barnes (husband Larry) and family of Tonganoxie, Kansas; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lowe, and her parents, Roy and Trudy Green.
