FOUR WAYS FOR SOUL CARE

I’m tired how about you? Sleep refreshes you after a hard physical work. Vacations spending time with friends can relieve the emotional burdens of a whit collar job. But there is a tiredness that doesn’t go away after sleep or having emotional needs met. It is soul weariness.

We are SOUL tired. Our soul is that part of you that makes you a unique person.

We need SOUL CARE. Here are some ways of caring for your soul.

C Create time for God.Don’t be afraid to tell God what you think and feel. Let it out. He already knows. You may throw a tantrum but as a Father He is not afraid. HLet Him manage it.

Share your requests for yourselves and others. Take time to listen. Learning to listen is one of the profound ways of growing spiritually.

Scripture meditation. How are you feeling? Do a Google search for Bible verses about your feeling. You will find a number of verses and promises about your issues. Lately in devotions I read 100 Bible promises before I do scripture meditation. Right now this works for me.

A Appreciate your blessings. Make a deliberate choice to look for blessings around you. The small and the large. Play an old fashioned game of “I Spy” and spot what blessings are around you.

Count those blessings. Try every day writing down three blessings and read them every night. At the end of a month you will have 90 blessings to think about.

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.” Psalm 77:11-12 (ESV) R Reach out to your support circle. Who would you call in the middle of the night for an emergency? Make a list including: your physician, counselor, family members that you can trust, develop a three close friends that are confidants. This is a good beginning. Talk. Let them know what you are experiencing.

E Encourage yourself. You have been in crises before. How did you get through those times? What resources did you use? What people? What personal characteristics? Take significant time to think about those.

Now put those things to work for you in this crisis. Remember you have got through every other bad day of your life.

Whatever stuff you are going through YOU CAN DO IT!
