Southeast Sunflowers plans September trip for members

The Southeast Sunflowers 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, in St. Paul.

President Cashlee Smith called the meeting to order with the flag salute. Secretary, Emma Kintzer, took roll call, which was “Tell one thing you learned at the fair this year.”

The secretary then read last month’s minutes, which were approved. The club had a correspondence which consisted of a “Thank You” card for sponsoring the Reserve Champion Woodworking Project Fair Award. The treasurer’s report was given by Khloe Brown.

Leader Heather Vogel then gave the leader’s report, which included reminding families of State Fair entries being due at the extension office by Monday, Aug. 11. She stated that enrollment for the new 4-H year was Oct. 1.

The club discussed the showcase at the fair that each club does, and they all voted that they enjoyed doing it. 4-H council representatives Cashlee Smith and Devin Vogel would report that back to the 4-H council.

Jackson Beachner gave the reporter’s report. 4-H Council had a meeting that evening at 6 p.m., as well as a fair board meeting at 7 p.m.

Under new business, the club will elect new officers next month, leader Heather Vogel told the kids to have a speech prepared for whatever office they would like to run for. Record books needed to be turned in by the September meeting if possible. Historian and reporters’ books would be due at that time as well, while the Treasurer’s book isn’t due until November.

The club decided to talk about a club trip at the September meeting. The club voted to get sweatshirts made for the club members and leaders.

Song leaders then lead the club in singing “Happy Birthday” to the August birthdays. Devin Vogel gave the Vice President report. The next meeting will be held on Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. at the St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul. The club adjourned with the 4-H pledge.
