The museum’s admission is free this month from the generous donation of Jennifer Dietsch with State Farm! Next month is free from the generous donation of Larry & Cathy Taylor and Family. We are so happy to have the community support, and we ask everyone to please take advantage of our free admission during these last few days of summer!

Did you know Osa was featured in the book Legendary Widows? This book is dedicated to the wonderful lives of the women that have loved and lost and kept making history. This book is next on my list to read! If you’ve read it, I would love to hear your thoughts on it! It’s available in our giftshop!

Our Curator Jacque made the Lei Away Event Itinerary! This is a super neat tropical “get-a-away” in the Midwest! It’s held in Kansas City and celebrates the Polynesian community in the Kansas City area. Jacque will be holding a seminar about the oceanic travelogues of Martin and Osa Johnson. We are so excited to send our exuberant curator up there to talk about the Johnsons!

Our annual museum gala, “Take off to Adventure” on October 3rd at 6:30pm, is coming up quickly! It will be held at the Chanute Martin Johnson Airport. We will be having a fun live and silent auction, as well as dinner and drinks! Be sure to come dressed as an adventure you’ve taken or want to take, there may be a best dressed prize in your future! Tickets will be available on August 22nd!
