On Sunday, Aug. 17, officers with the Chanute Police Department responded to the 600 block of West Beech Street. Officers spoke to persons involved and arrested Jimmy Perguson, 46, Chanute, for domestic battery.
On Tuesday. Aug. 19, officers with the Chanute Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Blue Comet Drive to serve an arrest warrant. Following a brief foot chase, officers arrested Matric Scott, 24, Kincaid, for the active arrest warrant, felony interference with law enforcement officer, criminal use of a weapon; possessing firearm, criminal carry of a weapon; knuckles, criminal use of an explosive, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
In March of 2025, officers with the Chanute Police Department started an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse. Officers spoke to persons involved. On Tuesday, Aug. 20, officers arrested Dakota Pearson, 21, Chanute, for rape; offender is 18 or older, victim is less than 14. He was also arrested for aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The Chanute Police Department informs the community of these arrests on the Chanute Police Department Facebook Page. Upon completion reports will be forwarded to Neosho County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges being filed. All suspects are presumed innocent, unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
